Why I started Peru Mission Tour
Hi, I'm Tammy. My son served an LDS mission in Arequipa, Peru from 2012 to 2014. From the moment my son opened his mission call, I knew I wanted to pick him up at the end of his mission. The day he left, I started learning Spanish so I could speak to the people my son had served.
However, as soon as I started trying to plan my missionary pick up tour, I started to get discouraged. I didn't know where to start. I couldn't figure out who to call to make arrangements, and I couldn't find any information to help me plan. In fact, the only information I found online about picking up missionaries told me I shouldn't do it.
After spending some time frustrated, I found the official missionary travel department website. It didn't seem to discourage missionary pick ups. In fact, it gave information about how to go about starting to plan. I became excited again, but I still had trouble finding information specific to my situation. There were plenty of travel sites, but none that addressed the unique situation of traveling with a full time LDS missionary.
Peru Mission Tour is the resource I wish I had found. There are plenty of travel websites that give great travel information. This website is not intended to replace them. I encourage people to do research in many places. This website is intended to be a place where missionary moms and dads can read about a missionary tour experience, and gain insights that are specific to a missionary tour experience. I hope that this website is a useful resource for you as you plan your priceless experience of picking up your LDS missionary.
